By 1992 I had been studying the body's experience of space for several years and I was ready to move forward. The result was a body of work that shifted the focus from the sensations of the body to those of the mind. What does thinking feel like? I was greatly influenced by a retrospective of Sigmar Polke's work that I saw at that time. A certain group of his work felt to me like thought incarnate. Simultaneously, I was also becoming close friends with the conceptual photographer,Gillian Brown, and our ideas and methods were being exchanged like borrowed clothes. This period of shifting focus formed a transition to the photo and then video installation work that was to follow.
