Housekeeping

By 1996 I had gone through a whirlwind of changes. I had fallen madly in love and married. I had returned to the University of Maryland for a second MFA in digital art. I was working simultaneously on the black paintings (Postures and Gestures) and the Identity series. In the midst of these commotions, my dream relationship began falling apart. It was a snowballing disaster that seemed unstoppable. The metaphor of the house, as the locus of shelter and identity - became prominent in my experimentation (as, for instance, in Mobius/The World and I). At the University of Maryland I was afforded the resources to explore these ideas in the magical medium of projected light.
